The Study on the Standardization of AWA (Academic Work Activities) in Korea

Abstract

|
This study selects 5 sub-tests among the Academic Work Activities that are known to be practical in domestic vocational rehabilitation, and aims to propose the standardization process and its result. Main contents of this study includes validity suggestion of criterion establishment based on difference verification among individual subjects of K-Academic Work Activities(K-AWA), and further suggests measurable suitability via reliability and validity verification. Subject of the study has been collected via purposive sampling method from capital area which includes Seoul and Gyeonggi region - 206 abled people at the age of 20s~30s, and 203 people with developmental disabilities (101 from supported employment, 102 from sheltered employment). Criterion has been established for both groups of abled people and disabled(supported employment, sheltered employment). Mean value and standard deviation between the two groups have shown distinct difference. As one-way analysis of variance has shown statistically significant difference, 3 criteria have been suggested for each group - abled people, supported employment, sheltered employment. Test-retest reliability of the abled was .60~.79, and reliability for the disabled has shown above .75~.91. Reliability between the test subject was above .90~.95. Convergent validity against Minnesota Manual Dexterity Test was .64~.85, and against Basic Academic Skills Assessment was .51~.69, which has shown valid values. This study provides significance in terms of securing reliability and validity of standardized K-AWA. We further expect establishment of suitable criterion establishment, which can be practical for vocational rehabilitation of the disabled.
